Ubuntu 22.04 Files (nautilus) GUI app copies files as root instead of as my user on shared folder

I have a shared folder that I mount using virtio with this line in /etc/fstab:

share /media/shared_folder 9p trans=virtio,version=9p2000.L,rw,_netdev,nofail 0 0

The folder has the following permissions:

drwxr-xr-x 11 myuser myuser 352 Dec 21 12:27 shared_folder

If I use the standard Files (nautilus) app in Ubuntu:

  • when I copy the same file owned by myuser to another folder, the copied file is still owned by myuser
  • when I copy the same file owned by myuser to the shared folder, Files prompts me to enter the root password and the copied file is owned by root

If I use cp from terminal, in both cases the copied file is owned by myuser.

How can I get Files (nautilus) to behave like cp and inherit the permission of the destination folder?

Thanks

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
