Latest OpenGL for ThinkCentre M90z?

ng flag

I'm trying to get Minecraft Java working on my Ubuntu box, which is an old ThinkCentre with integrated Intel GPU.

I'm getting this error: GLFW error 65543: GLX: Failed to create context: GLXBadFBConfig

I've tried installing the latest Mesa drivers, first through the kisak ppa and then the oibaf ppa. I upgraded to 22.04 in this attempt, since kisak says it only supports 22.04 now.

But nothing I've done gets OpenGL (as reported by glxinfo) past 2.1, and the GLX error keeps popping up. I've tried MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE, both as an export and as a prefix to the minecraft-launcher, but with no success. I didn't find a jar file in the Minecraft launcher directory, so I'm assuming the launcher I've been using is the right one.

Thanks. It's been disappointing that I can't get MC working for my younger son, since they've both been asking for "real Minecraft" for so long. They've tried too many of the tricks from the YouTube videos and found out they don't work with MineClone 2 or 5. :(

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
