Screen goes black after connecting second monitor

al flag

so every time I connect my second monitor, the moment I do the screen goes black on my laptop monitor and my second monitor will turn on like a connection has been made successfully. But after a few moments, both screens will remain black. Clicking or typing wont change anything, and even unplugging the usb-c cable that is connecting the laptop and monitor wont bring back any images back on the main laptop screen. The only way to turn the laptop screen back on is to hard reset the entire laptop. Only when the laptop is booted up with the monitor already attached will both of them work. I am currently using Ubuntu 22.04 on a Dell Precision 5570. My second monitor is a Dell ultrawide and is connected using a usb-c to displayport cable. I am using Ubuntu on Wayland which I believe may be the culprit since this issue hasn't been a problem since I switched. I was wondering if anybody has any idea why this happens and if there is any fix.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
