I guess Ask Ubuntu is the best place to post this.
So, here we go: suddenly and without warning, my system (approximate specs: AMD FX-8370, Gigabyte 990-something motherboard, SSD drive with dual-boot win 8, Nvidia GTX-970, 32 GB RAM) started failing to load Ubuntu 22.04. Windows works.
I am getting a number of error messages after which the startup process simply stops (see snapshots). This installation is not really old, but there is already some data/configs, etc. on the computer which I need to keep, so I really should get it working again instead of reinstalling...
See linked below the snapshots of the failed boots (Ask Ubunut won't allow me to insert the picture itself). The part relevant to the problem I guess are only the last few lines, which are not always identical as you will see in the pics.
Curiously, the system does not appear to be completely or truly frozen: when testing the "Num Lock" key, for instance, it responds by turning its luminous indicator on/off.
Available information via regular search seems sparse/not relevant to this particular problem...
Thanks a lot in advance for any help!
