I need to log out of an old account from login screen

I got a second hand pc and it has an ubuntu account login when i turn it on ,but i have no way of finding out the password to the ubuntu account so i was wondering how to fix this

I agree 100% with what @Nmath said. I normally use the installed OS on a 2nd hand purchased box to explore the machine, check out everything appears to be working (*if you have a warranty; it's usually easier if you've not changed the OS, so I use the given OS to confirm the hardware is all good, then when I consider it good enough for me to own/use*) I then install the OS I want to use. I'd look to see if they made any changes, added anything non-standard (*that may have helped with the hardware for example; which kernel stack was used etc*) such that I could get it back as they had it.
