Why do I see truncated graphics when copy-pasting images in GNOME with Chrome?

za flag

When copy-pasting images on Ubuntu 22.04 and 22.10, I often get truncated images like this:

enter image description here

This error occurs when copying from ksnip (app) and google photos (in chrome) into gmail (chrome), slack (chrome, not app), and google slides (chrome). The error is not reproducible: copy-pasting again has always resolved the problem. Furthermore, pasting again (without copying again) reproduces the truncation. The problem might occur with other apps; the above combinations are merely the ones that I do frequently enough to see the error.

Because copy-paste and re-paste results in the same truncation, the error is likely in copying rather than pasting. And because the error occurs when copying from ksnip and chrome, it does not seem to be specific to either of these apps. I use gpaste, which might be involved.

Anyone else seeing this or know the cause?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
