Ubuntu 22.10 can no longer find built-in speakers on Dell Precision 7200

to flag

Ubuntu 22.10 can no longer find built-in speakers on Dell Precision 7200. It will send Firefox streaming internet radio to the line out to external speakers. Pulse audio volume control says built-in speakers are "unavailable". Moreover, sometimes on rebooting, there is no sound whatsoever. One has to reboot one or more times to get the sound. This problem does not affect my desktops running 22.10. So there are two problems here: 1) sound will disappear on rebooting. It may take several reboots to get sound; and 2) Ubuntu no longer recognizes the built-in speakers. Please note that if I reboot my laptop to Win 11, the sound works correctly, and the built-in speakers always work.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
