Can't wake up from suspend with keyboard, but only if suspended with lid closed

bj flag

My laptop runs Ubuntu 22.04LTS and I use it mainly docked to an external monitor via USB-C. I would like to be able to suspend and wake up the laptop without opening the lid, by using the external keyboard.

  • If I suspend the system from the GUI with the lid open, then I can wake up using the external keyboard.
  • Another test: if I suspend the system from the GUI with the lid open, then I close the lid, I still can wake it up from the external keyboard.
  • Here's the problem: if I suspend the system from the GUI when the lid is closed, then I can't use the external keyboard to wake up and I'm forced to open the lid.

I checked the BIOS for some related setting but it doesn't have much, just the possibility to keep USB powered in S3 or S4/S5, which doesn't change the above behavior.

Thanks in advance

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
