How to restore openldap's mdb from dpkg's daily backups under /var/backups

ve flag

I have openldap server on Ubuntu 22.04 and unfortunately it seems I lost part of my ldap directory data.

After restarting my openldap server, its data somehow rollbacked to state as of January 2023 - 2 month ago.

Basically I have my mdb at /var/lib/ldap/data.mdb, but I found my latest ldap data under /var/backups/{my base DN}-2.4.49+dfsg-2ubuntu1.9.ldapdb/ directory.

And it looks like that directly contains only the difference from the original data at /var/lib/ldap.

I think I need to merge backup /var/backups/{my base DN}-2.4.49+dfsg-2ubuntu1.9.ldapdb/data.mdb into original /var/lib/ldap/data.mdb so that I can get my data fully back.

What to do now?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you very much for your help.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
