I upgraded from 22.04.1 to 22.04.2 LTS. On booting, my screen flickers heavily when using the mouse and is almost unusable. Many others have had the same issue (such as here Ubuntu 22.04.2 - Screen flickering / glitches), and the proposed solution is to roll back the kernel to 5.15 that was used in the 22.04.1 release.
However, despite having had the previous kernel in the 22.04.1, my system seems to have deleted it. I checked my system log and it seems I was using "linux-image-5.15.0-56-generic linux-headers-5.15.0-56-generic" when my system was stable. When i reinstall this and boot using this alternative kernel, my screen flickering problem goes away but now my trackpad and wifi adapter stop working. I guess there is a driver conflict?
Is my only option to reinstall 22.04.1 from scratch again?
Thanks for any help
PS. as a separate issue - using the mainline kernel installer doesn't seem to show which ones are part of lts ubuntu releases and use a different numbering convention than the ubuntu releases (for example, there are multiple 5.15.0 releases used by Ubuntu, but the mainline installer only shows 5.15.1, 5.15.2 etc.). Am i misunderstanding the numbering convention?
