Asus Vivobook Ryzen 6000 suspend problem

US flag

When I close the lid, my laptop does not suspend at all, as if nothing happened. However, if I open the Logs app, I can find the "Lid closed" or "Lid closed".

I have following lines in logind.conf:

HandleSuspendKey=suspend
HandleLidSwitch=suspend
HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend

Furthermore, suspend also does not work properly if I choose it in the "Power Off" menu: the screen goes black and turned off, but the laptop keeps working and will never actually turn off.

I have tried 6.1, 6.2 and now latest 6.3 kernels. Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing the problem?

The first thing to do is not use unsupported kernels. Such as 6.2 and 6.3 Why did you move away from the kernel the OS came with in the first place? What is the version of Ubuntu that you are using?

Closing the lid on your laptop should invoke Hibernation. You need at least as much swap as you have RAM to hibernate.

The OS comes with 6.2 - Ubuntu 23.04 Why hibernation? I could always normally suspend on lid closing on all my previous laptops.

Welcome to the Ask Ubuntu community. Your question appears to relate to Ubuntu 23.04, which is an unreleased version, and therefore, not supported in this forum. For details, please review the Help Center: https://askubuntu.com/help.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
