Ubuntu Server installer fails

cn flag

I've been trying to install Ubuntu Server from USB on a new system, but the installation keeps failing.

After boot I might get past language, network and storage menus, but I've never gotten past the user configuration: At some time in the process the screen starts flickering and after some time the computer resets.

I've tried both 22.04 LTS and 23.04. It doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've tried multiple USB-sticks, also tried flashing with both Etcher and Rufus. It doesn't seem to make a difference.

The computer is based on the ASRock N100DC-ITX motherboard. I've tried with both 'Secure Boot' and 'Fast Boot' disabled and enabled. RAM is listed as supported. BIOS is updated.

Finally, I've tried Ubuntu Desktop 22.04: Same problem, only the flickering looks different.

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong or how it could be solved?

Edit: Just tried to install Windows - same thing happend, so may not be OS related. This also confirmed that the Ubuntu installer did succesfully partition the SSD at some point.

Thanks in advance!

I’m voting to close this question because it is a hardware issue that was resolved by RAM replacement.

Changing the RAM-module resolved the problem: it was either faulty or incompatible (even if QVL-listed).

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
