Kubuntu boots up to a blank screen until I drop to a TTY and restart X

me flag

I have a Kubuntu machine I've been using for around a year and a half, and recently it has started booting up to a blank screen. I cannot get it to show anything by moving the mouse, hitting keys, or anything like that. It's just blank. Once I drop to a TTY and forcefully kill X it restarts and behaves as it should. I'm not sure how I should go about diagnosing or fixing this.

Any advice?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
