Wine mkdir: cannot create directory '/run/user/0': Permission denied

Similar to this question whose responders ask for the full details of what's going on; I have an issue that Notepad++ (installed via Wine) can't load on root authorised file request (from Nautilus):

Zorin OS 16.3

root@device:~# nautilus /var/log
mkdir: cannot create directory '/run/user/0': Permission denied
Initialising Wine..
mkdir: cannot create directory '/run/user/0': Permission denied
Initialising Wine..
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/root/snap/notepad-plus-plus/common/.wine/drive_c/users/root/Downloads': File exists
Installing application..
Running hook '/snap/notepad-plus-plus/386/sommelier/hooks/pre-install'

Events; I have a certain file on my /var/log directory that the usual text editor can't open. I have Notepad++ installed and which claims to be [Administrator] (whatever that means).

Notepad++ does not open the file that's dragged into it's zone; and the above errors are output on the terminal. How should I resolve these errors?

Edit: Wine version: "6.0.3~repack-1+zorin"

Edit 2: Notepad++ states, after a pause of several seconds: "Can't open file Z:\var\log\wtmp"

Zorin OS isn't Ubuntu. Ubuntu 16.03 is too obsolete, and no longer supported on AskUbuntu.
I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
