Recovering a file by mounting a Synology RAID1 disk in Ubuntu (mount, mdadm, and losetup issues)
mx flag

I'm working with a Synology RAID1 system and deleted a file that wasn't yet backed up. To recover the file, and since an undelete approach seems to be impossible, my idea is to mount a single RAID1 disk in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and search for it, but I'm having some trouble with it. An internet search brought me to two related Q&A's here; they are of older date though and didn't work in my case.

From a few days I'm receiving attacks from some IP addresses to my nginx. I have decided to use fail2ban to ban it automatically, but I have noticed that is not working very well. I can see in logs that is detecting the IP addressess, but is not banning as expected.

My jail file is:

Apache, Multiple IPs and Selinux does not work in enforcing mode
gb flag

I am trying to set up an Apache proxy to load balance and offload SSL. To this end I have multiple IPs on the same interface. Unfortunately it seems selinux prevents httpd from binding to the secondary IP addresses.

For example, I have the following IPs on ens192

10.222.79.78 (primary)
10.222.79.79

When I start httpd with selinux in permissive mode, it binds to both IPs on ports 80 and 443 -- just as co ...

What exactly does Storage Sense consider Temporary Files?
cn flag

I'm configuring GPO's for Windows Storage Sense. The GPO's are very straight-forward and Storage Sense itself is a simple concept. One thing that bothers me though, what exactly does Storage Sense classify as "Temporary files"?

I'm attempting to do some basic testing against storage sense to make sure it's working as expected and I can't get it to clean my C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Users<username ...

Docker compose - disable default gateway route
us flag

Is it possible to prevent docker from defining default route when using docker-compose yaml file?

If my docker-compose.yaml defines network ipam with default driver and any subnet, seams like docker (or docker compose) automatically assigns default route to the routing table of the docker that is attached to this network). Is there any way to disable it?

I'm using Proxmox VE platform, version 6 or 7, and I'm currently documenting the initial setup with the idea of automating it later. So I'm looking for all command line commands to do all that I must do on the web UI.

My problem is in the storage configuration step: I try to configure an LVM volume on top of an iSCSI LUN.

If I do this setup with the web UI, the /etc/pve/storage.cfg looks like

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
