How to configure IP address to an Huawei AR158E interface?
it flag

In my work we saw one old Huawei AR158E router gathering some dust and I'm playing now with it seeing if I can give it some new purpose...

So far I have been able to configure some VLANs and a VLANIF in Ethernet0/0/2 and works flawlessly... But I was wondering if I can configure an IP address directly to a interface, let's say Ethernet0/0/2, I was somehow related to Huawei cli but my skill levels are ave ...

Blocking direct access to static website on Azure Blob Storage and allow only Azure Front Door

I have an SPA webapp deployed on Azure Blob Storage which the URL is public. E.g. https://example.z23.web.core.windows.net/

I would like to use Azure Front Door with WAF to increase security. Is there a way to block direct access at the blob URL? I googled it and found many answers out there, one of them is to simply allow only AzureFrontDoor.Backend IPs at Storage Account networking configurations. I tri ...

Keep desktop up and logged in without RDP on EC2?

We have a very important (third-party) app running on our EC2 server that auto-closes if the machine is locked, or any kind of log-off is detected (not sure how it's doing it exactly, that's what it says in the docs).

We have been keeping an RDP session up to maintain it running for a while now, but we need something more reliable. I have searched high and low, and at this point I think RDP shoul ...

Rolling Backups of .sql files

I'm having a bunch of docker-containers containing different databases. For every container there is a Jenkins-Job which performs a daily backup of the database as a .sql-file and then zips this file. As you can imagine this leads to a lot of redundant data over time:

Is JDK 1.6 supported in IBM POWER 9(AIX 7.1-7.2)?
fr flag

I would like to check if jdk 1.6 is supported in AIX 7.2.

We are planning to upgrade from AIX7.1-7.2 (POWER7-POWER9).

But we are not sure if we have to upgrade java . As our development is done in JDK 1.6.

Can anyone suggest if java needs to be upgraded to JDK 1.8 if we are upgrading AIX 7.1-7.2 (POWER 7 TO POWER 9)?

Windows Server 2019: Install the Certificate for an Issuing CA (signed by offline Root CA) using PowerShell

I'm working on automating the deployment of a multi-tier PKI system based on ADCS (I have a general product IT solution that we then deploy on projects mostly in a cookie cutter fashion). I have the entire process automated using powershell except for the step when I need to install the certificate for the Issuing CAs. In our design the root CA (Windows ADCS based) is not domain joined and is kept off ...

hyper-v dynamic expanding vs fixed disk

I cannot find too much information about what is recommended today for windows server 2019.

What is recommended in 2021? Fixed disk size or dynamic expanding?

How can I show the description on the list of silences in Alertmanager?
om flag

We generally have a handful of silences set in Alertmanager and it's not always easy to find the right one when it comes to extending or expiring. (screenshot 1)

We fill in the description and author field for each silence but they don't appear on the list page. You can only see them by going to each silence's page. (screenshot 2)

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
