Mount issue for EBS at EC2 instance
in flag

For historical reason we have 2 EBS drive for our application (which is an EC2 instance, using Amazon2 Linux), one needs to mount as

/data

And the other need to mount as

/data/inhouse

However, after we create a new build of the application, we found it is quite often that "/data/inhouse" cannot mount automatically but need to manually mount it. Not sure if there is any solution to that?

Interpreting flags in AIDE daily report
co flag

My questions is about the flags displayed by AIDE for each file in daily email reports. For example for new files its shows as follows:

f++++++++++++++++: /var/cache/apt/archives/squashfs-tools_1%3a4.4-1ubuntu0.1_amd64.deb

I can deduce that f stands for file and I have seen d which stands for directory. But what other flags can possibly come here? What about the ++++++++++++++++, does it signify anythi ...

We have an NFS server and our custom board which is our NFS Client. We are generating a log file as part of our custom application. This log file is getting generated in the root file system of the board(NFS client) immediately after the application execution. But however its taking about 30 seconds to get updated on the NFS server which is a high delay in our use case. In the NFS server I ran the comma ...

High CPU usage by Apache/MySQL

I have a problem with CPU usage on the website that uses WordPress, Apache, and MySQL. During the day, from time to time, CPU usage by MySQL and Apache goes up to 2400% (I have 24 cores in total), the server freezes, the average load goes up to 24.

Recently, there was a little more traffic than usual, but this thing shouldn't be permanent, right? I've updated the kernel, the database, libraries,  ...

Can tone ethernet cable into patch panel but it's not working

So we recently had to two major issues happen at a location.

  1. We had a lightning strike hit the building

Now one thing that was 'hit' was a SOHO router. After upgrading the server room, we realized that the port for this SOHO router no longer works. I toned the cable out fine but the replacement router (same make & model) isn't powering on. I've r ...

Can any local domain controller authenticate NTLM or do they pass it on to the primary domain controller?

When a Windows server needs to authenticate a domain user with NTLM it asks the local domain controller.

My question is whether that domain controller (assuming the user is in that domain) can process NTLM authentication entirely locally, OR, does it have to forward the request to the primary domain controller to do part of the authentication?

I would have assumed it does it entirely locally but NTL ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
