cn flag

In syslog (Raspbian rsyslog swVersion="8.1901.0"),

I am trying to match / filter a system msg containing a specific string BOTH to /var/log/syslog (default) AND to a custom separate log file, i.e.: /var/log/nut.log.

I have been able to achieve the by placing the following filter lines in /etc/rsyslog.conf:

How to configure Windows to execute only .exe with certificate signing?

I want to run (on a certain computer with Windows 10) only those exe. files, who signed by certificates, which installed on the computer (it can be certificates from CA or my own test certificate).

I already tried this solution (and many others): How does one configure Windows not to execute tampered binaries?

How to detect AWS EC2 architecture from inside?
al flag

Assuming we have instance running, what can we run on that instance to detect whether it's x86_64 or graviton-based/ARM?

I thought about curl -s http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/... but found nothing useful in this case. Also, it's possible to detect using instance type (e.g. t4g.* vs t3.*) but I'd like to have more straightforward way.

Is there any?

Logging all SSH commands from a linux Jumpbox
ru flag

I'm tasked with coming up with a solution for our NOC to implement MFA\secured access on our routers. There are caveats to doing this as TACACS\RADIUS is only supported on the MGMT interface amongst other limitations (I don't want to risk getting locked out of a router if TACACS\RADIUS is being flakey)

With that being said I think a better approach would be a jumpbox that logs all commands. Use ...

ISP configured Dynamic IP is different from what websites see when I access them

We switched our internet connection and now something wired is going on.

I am using a TP Link Archer 1600 modem.

The ISP asked me to set connection type as "Dynamic IP" under EWAN settings. Internet is working just fine.

But my modem shows the below IP is assigned by the ISP:

But when I use the external website to find my public IP I get a different one:

Comparing file differences between an offline and an online linux image

so I hired a freelancer to do some work on my server that required admin access.

Before hiring him I took a backup of my debian installation on that server.

I have a basic level of trust with this guy but just to be sure is there a way to check the complete debian installation for differences in files?

Syncing only groups that have members to Azure AD
ve flag

I am trying to change the synchronization rules in such a way that will only sync non-empty AD groups to Azure AD. While trying to do so, I added the clause with the condition "member" attr. isnot 'null' or "member" attr. contains "*". In both cases I wasn't allowed to use these expressions.

Any chance you know how can I sync only groups that have members to Azure AD?

Thanks!

Linux - User name with a "$" cannot sudo
cd flag

We are beginning to add our RHEL 7.9 Linux machines to AD. As a part of that we would like to restrict the use of sudo to the administrators. The admin group we will call ServerAdmins and we added it to the sudoers file. The issue we have is the individual administrator ID has a "$" in the name. EXAMPLE: admin$user. When we add this line to the sudoers file it fails.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
