Best Method For Clearing User Data On Shared Windows Device?
ng flag

I have had a client request that I setup a user account on a Windows device that will clear all user profile data once the account has been logged off. The computer is a shared device that will be used by guests and there cannot be any reference to the previous guests data.

My question is, what is the best method for achieving this? Is there a way I can achieve this with Group Policy, or some for ...

Meaning of "sender"?
au flag

Reading documentation about SPF records, I can't quite seem to disambiguate the meaning of "sender". It could mean "the IP where the mail client sent the message" or it could mean "the IP of the mail server that the mail client is contacting".

So, it could be my home/business IP address (where my mail client is), or it could be just the address of valid mail servers.

Refresh Cached AD Credentials through VPN to Trusted Domain

Our infrastructure has 2 domains, one is on premises and the other is in AWS, both Windows Active Directory. There is a one way trust setup so that the AWS domain can authenticate resources based on on-premises domain users, but not the other way around.

How to export shares so that users don't create file as root

I am trying to export home directories from my NAS to ubuntu clients - the server is a TrueNAS Scale, which is Debian based. Kerberos works, so users get the proper tickets to authenticate to the server.

My main goal is that users can mount their home dirs off the server.

I have a share called home on the server with one directory per user. The home directory is owned by root, and the subdirectories ...

Naemon still sending DOWN notifications for removed host

I shutdown an old web server, and immediately started receiving DOWN notifications from Naemon.

Now I have removed that host entirely from the Naemon config, and restarted the Naemon service. Yet I continue to receive DOWN notifications every hour.

How do I stop these?

The whole Naemon configuration is almost 2000 lines, so much too long to include here; the virtually default naemon.cfg is over 1000 li ...

Exchange not truncating Transaction Logs after successful Full-Backup

I'm using Dell Avamar native Exchange Agent to Full-Backup the Databases on a Stand-Alone Exchange 2013 Server (latest updates and patches). It uses VSS.

It's not an Agent issue, since at the end of the Backup we correctly get Windows Event 2046:

Precipitous page allocation failures leading to system crash

We run a platform that uses Linux bridging to filter traffic and also logs that activity to a MySQL server. Occasionally we have an issue where the unit will experience very high latency, and leading up to that we often see a repeating page allocation failure in the mpt3sas driver, and logged to /var/log/messages. These seem to occur under times of high system load, but also on a system with seemi ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
