How do I run an app from the command line during an Azure pipeline that accesses Key Vault?
ar flag

I have a UI automation testing tool that runs from the command line. It uses Azure Key Vault via SecretClient in the source code. This works great for QA people who are running it locally and can log into Azure from Visual Studio. However this tool also needs to run as a step during the build process in an Azure Devops pipeline. Logging in as a Service Principal looks overly complicated as I would ne ...

.htaccess mod_rewrite not catching all RewriteRules

There is a PHP application with a PHP router as entry point for all the requests placed inside index.php. I am trying to write a .htaccess file to forward every request to index.php except for API requests and for design resources. So I am trying to obtain the following behavior:

  1. example.com/api/v1/* should serve api_v1.php
  2. example.com/any_path/resource.css => should serve resource.css if it exis ...

Power limit in a 2x1600W server
de flag

I have a server with two 1600W power supply units (a Gigabyte GS-R22PHL if that helps).

Should I assume the maximum rated power is 1600W, and that the second unit is for redundancy, or that the combined 3200W are available to the system? I apologize for the somewhat trivial question, but the manual does not mention anything either way, so I assume some standard practice is in play here.

Filtering traffic between ports on an ethernet switch
jp flag

I would like to know if there is a standard way of limiting traffic between ports on a managed Ethernet switch? I have a 7-port Ethernet switch (microchip - KSZ9897), which is a layer 2 switch, but with IEEE 802.1X (ACL) and 802.1Q (VLAN) support. What I specifically need is the following:

I need to only allow traffic from port 1 to 2 for one specific IP address. The same from port 2 to port 1, o ...

Rob

When I look at Datastore / Entities for any of my projects, it just shows blank - I can access logging, appengine dashboard fine and the application is running fine.

If I try looking at database indexes I get "There was an error while loading /datastore/indexes?project=<<>>. Please try again. Tracking Number: c5364959913097019.

This was all working earlier in the year.

Logs hidden by a mounted disk in the same directory
in flag

We have (more than) a linux server on AWS that use a network file system, in our case AWS EFS, mounted on /logs directory.

It happens sometimes that:

  • the machine is rebooted
  • for any reason the network file system is not mounted, so all process starts to log in /logs but on the main (system) partition
  • disk space quickly starts to be low and, in worst case, the disk become completely full.

How can I run two docker containers in the same network namespace?
sn flag

I want to run two docker containers in the same Linux network namespace.
My goal is to route all my torrent traffic through OpenVPN.
This script successfully creates a openvpn client container.
I can successfully enter this namespace and verify my IP address is indeed the OpenVPN IP address.

My issue is - How do I run the qbittorent docker container inside the openvpn network namespace?

Amazon Elastic File System costs
de flag

Amazon's pricing (estimation) calculator for EFS (Elastic File System) asks to enter the average GB (or TB) of storage used per month.

This is directly from their page:

Enter the amount of EFS storage capacity you expect to use. EFS is an elastic file system that grows and shrinks based on actual usage and you pay only for what you use. We recommend you input your average usage for the month.

Installing O365 via powershell inside an ISO

I created an Office 365 installer where it does the local installation and dynamically changes the SourcePath, and I need to run it from an ISO file (I normally use USB's, but in VM's I use ISO)

Running locally in any directory or USB it works perfectly, but from an ISO it doesn't, the error appears:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
