Microservice HTTP port connection failure on Windows Server
sa flag

We have written (in Go and Delphi) several Windows microservices, which respond to HTTP requests on specific ports in the 11000-12000 range. These are designed to run internally within the Domain or Private network of the client (i.e. not on the internet).

They run perfectly on all but one of our 50+ client systems, on OS's ranging from Windows 7/10/11 to Windows Server 2008R2/2012/2016/2019. The ins ...

I am needing to deploy a new frontend application on NextJS which is operating as a transition for a legacy WordPress site using the incremental adoption functionality in NextJS. We are looking at an edge service like Vercel, etc to manage the NextJS deployment so we don't have access to the hosts file.

Is it possible to build Apache2 with mpm event static and worker + prefork shared?
dj flag

Is it possible to compile Apache2 with mpm event static and worker + prefork shared?

The following throws a compile error, "you must include event in the mpms-shared list."

--with-mpm=event
--enable-mpms-shared='prefork worker'

Adding event to the list builds all 3 of them shared.

I'm thinking the answer is "no, it's not possible." Looking for confirmation or workarounds.

Why won't 2 switches auto-negotiate (link down) when direct, but will work at 10/100 (or at 10/1000 with other switches)?

I cannot understand why 2 switches won't auto-negotiate or communicate at 10/1000 (1000Mbps) when connected directly together. But they will communicate at 10/1000 with other switches. Can anyone help me?

I have two Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch PoE switches (ES-24-500W and ES-16-150W)

If I link the two directly then the ports show no lights and the web interfaces show "No Link".

I am trying to configure keepalived in such a way that if any application or service running on master node fails, keepalived should consider it as fault and backup node should act as master and take over the floating IP from master node.

I have written a script to check if service X on master server goes down, then it should transition to backup node.

react.js app with nginx gives 404 or refresh

I can load my frontend well. But when I refresh, it gives 404. I have looked in the nginx directives, but I'm not sure how it works, since I didn't setup this project. I know that react uses the react-router, which nginx is not aware of.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
