br flag

I cant get a simple test message out of my Ubuntu VM to my gmail for reporting.

I've followed several guides to set up an App Password in /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd, using port 587, disabled firewall, etc..

I can get internal messages to /var/mail/root. The log at /var/log/mail.log shows status=bounced (unknown user: . I have a feeling its because my server doesnt have an external IP or domain. Yet ...

Sending Images over DNS Protocol
kz flag
Avv

HTTP protocol at application layer can carry audio, images, etc. in the body over 1 or more TCP responses in case the file size exceeded 4 MB (body size of HTTP response if I am not mistaken).

Now for DNS server, I know it's used for resolving host names, but can it be used to carry images or other multimedia files in its body please?

Thank you.

Essentially, I have an ESXi host with two physical network adapters. Each adapter plugs in to a different switch. Each switch is connected via a trunk port. A PC is connected to one of the switches. A vSwitch with a VMKernel port and VM ports is configured to use both physical NICs in an Active/Active configuration:

in flag

I generated my .p12 file using the below command

keytool -importkeystore -srckeystore mycert.jks -destkeystore keystore.p12 -deststoretype PKCS12

The above command successfully generated a 7 KB .p12 file. After this, i tried generating my private key using the below command

openssl pkcs12 -in keystore.p12 -nocerts -nodes -out my_store.key

But it did not work. It created a file with 0 KB.

Apache2: Why do I get a 403 Forbidden error?
gb flag

I've been messing with this for days :(

Why do I get a 403 Forbidden error at example.com/contact?

Is this a file/folder permissions, Apache user, virtualhosts or Python issue?

I'm trying to run a Django app at /contact but the first issue is the 403 error.

  • I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
  • Apache 2.4.41 installed and is running
  • Python 3.8 and Django installed

Is it possible to set proxy header in NGINX using variable for the *header name*?
us flag

According to the NGINX documentation

proxy_set_header field value allows redefining or appending fields to the request header passed to the proxied server. The value can contain text, variables, and their combinations.

So I can do

set $my_variable "some_value";
proxy_set_header x-my-header $my_variable;

Is it anyhow possible to use a variable for the field parameter, i.e. have the header name base ...

OpenVPN windows split tunneling - route 1 IP outside of VPN

  • How do I change the config file in Open VPN (windows) to allow a particular IP to go outside the VPN tunnel?

  • I know that if I want only one particular IP to go through the Open VPN tunnel, I can use this command:

route nopull

route [IP address to use VPN]

  • However I don't know what commands to use to do the INVERSE i.e. only a particular IP does NOT use the VPN tunnel and all other IPs use VPN. ...

up directive not working when dhcp is selected in /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0
in flag

I have to add the multicast route, that is needed when no default gateway is configured. Mono needs this in order to join multicast groups. The configuring is done in /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0

Now the peculiar thing is:

If eth0 is configured with a static IP it works:

allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
up ip route add 224.0.0.0/4 dev eth0

I have some questions here:

  1. How can i decrypt a header in Apache through a public key?

AWS CloudFront and apex domain with third-party domain registrar

I have an existing domain example.de, that should be served via AWS CloudFront and its SSL certificates provided by ACM. That domain is registered and managed at a third-party registrar.

Setting up CloudFront and ACM for the www.example.de domain was easy enough, but what do I do for the apex record example.de? I cannot go the "canonical route" of either moving the domain to Route53 (because then, ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
