How can I make Linux reboot instead of remounting the filesystem as read-only?
us flag

Linux systems sometimes remount the root file system as read-only, e.g. if there's an I/O error.

I have a machine that becomes useless when this happens, and I end up rebooting it manually.

Is there a way to make Linux just automatically reboot when this happens? A read-only mount is useless to me.

Create a zabbix alert for a numeric value in a file
ec flag
V.A

I am a newbie in zabbix,

I created a script in linux and it will create a file that has a value on it. The data in a file has only one value / number .

For example.

/home/testuser/textfile.txt

If you cat the textfle.txt the output is 50

the data in textfile.txt is 50.

Then I want to create a zabbix alert if the data in that text file will be greater than 100 , zabbix will give me alert.

Is this possible? ...

Connecting to VPN blocks other connections

One of my clients provides me with a VPN connection using Palo Alto Network's GlobalProtect.

It works reliably but blocks other network connections from my Windows client machine when it is active.

At first I thought it blocked everything including the LAN, but have since realised that it is selective. Some web sites still work, while others are blocked.

So I'm guessing it is placing me under the secu ...

Why is Nginx truncating the JSON streaming response?
in flag

Our stack is Client(Browser) <-> Nginx Reverse Proxy <-> Webserver(Flask+Gunicorn) <-> Golang gRPC server

The problem is when the client makes a call to the /realtimedata endpoint, Flask then opens the gRPC connection and starts receiving data via a server->client unidirectional stream. It then passes it back to the client. When I run this without Nginx, I get all responses. When ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
