Can I change the default sysctl values in grub?
it flag

When using kernels older than 5.1, if a user creates a network namespace, it starts with the default sysctl values. Even if the root namespaces changed those values with sysctl, the new network namespaces will still use the default values. For example, proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/forwarding is always 0 because that's the default value.

If I understand correctly, those are default values set by the kernel  ...

I would like to implement the following and unfortunately I can't get any further. When a certain url is called via HAProxy, I want to write the IP address in a separate file. This should be able to be implemented with log, unfortunately I can't get any further. Has anyone already implemented this and a HAProxy example or something similar?

FAILED md RAID10, confusing output
in flag

I'm testing a RAID10 array here with mdadm. I wanted to see how many failed devices it could tolerate, rebuild times, etc. At one point I had it doing a resync on 5 or 6 devices, then I rebooted it, Now it is showing inactive and I'm not sure what it is doing or how to get it back.

There's nothing important on there and I could just recreate it, but I'd prefer to figure out what went wrong and wh ...

Nginx sends garbled bytes for any request

I have setup a new site on my Nginx server as a subdomain of another site on the same server. All my other sites still work perfectly fine but this new site simply sends over a bunch of random bytes as a response to any request with any path. There are no headers or anything in the response.

Add additional option on all automounts brought in from +auto.master
ru flag

I am looking for a way to enable cachefilesd across all automounts that we inherit via +master.conf. To do this, I need to be able to add -o fsc to the mount options.

Is there a way to override the NFS options in the maps to add an additional option?

I found add_options for auto.conf, but I think that is about autofs options, not mount options.

Redirect URL path to an action on index?
in flag

I'm running an apache web server on Ubuntu 20.04.

I have a domain.com which directs clients to the index.html. On the website there is a button that, when clicked, opens a calendal pop-up widget. I would like people who go to domain.com/schedule to land on the index page as if they had clicked that button.

How can I do that simply?

There is a switch "A" is of the Managed type, on its ports the TAG VLAN # 100 is assigned. Switch "B" is connected to one of these ports; this switch "B" is unmanaged.

On switch "B" there are connected PCs with their own network card identified by TAG # 100 and TAG # 200.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
