Kubuntu 20.04 black screen after login

eg flag

I tried installing/updating the nvidia driver for my GT1030. With that I first was not able to get to the login screen at all. Just stuck at the kubuntu logo on kernel 5.8.0-53-generic. When using kernel 5.8.0-43-reneric I get to the login screen, but after logging in I get a black screen only with the mouse (which can move). I can also use the tty console when pressing F2.

I installed the nvidia driver 460 manually after downloading it from the nvidias driver website. That did not help. I am not sure what needs to be done to get back to the desktop. But when trying to purge nvidia*, there is nothing uninstalled/removed.

I also created a test user, to see if it is a problem with config files of my main user, but the test user has the same problem.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
