Good evening,
A few months ago, I installed Ubuntu MATE onto an Acer Aspire (I don't quite recall the specific model name). However, around 6 weeks ago, after an Ubuntu update I began to have a weird bug, namely that when my laptop is plugged in on the charger it constantly cycles between charging and discharging states. The cycle is extremely quick, so the net effect is that it is not like it is discharging power at all. However, it also means the computer constantly blinks between charging and discharging states.
The first time this issue occurred, it seemed like it was a hardware issue. I tried several solutions, including resetting the battery. Nothing work. However, after about 2-3 weeks and the next Ubuntu update, the problem went away on its own. I was forced to consider it may have been a driver bug in the version I was running at the time.
After updating Ubuntu again last night, however, the problem has returned. At this point I am reasonably sure the problem is actually caused by a software bug (i.e. improper interaction between the charger driver and power management) and would like to revert to the previous version of Ubuntu. The version I currently have running is the most recent update of Ubuntu Mate.
Any guidance on this issue would be very helpful!
