Keyboard not working on login screen ,Ubuntu 20.04

gy flag

I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS dual boot with my windows.it was working perfectly fine until this week when i locked my user and went somewhere, when i came back and tried to login to my user but the keyboard is partially not working.its giving me a funny behavior.keys are only being pressed when i press the key a dozen times, and sometimes even then it doesn't work.and one thing more the mouse is working perfectly fine.when i try using on-screen keyboard the keys are working fine, except that when i click the enter key after entering my password nothing happens.its like the enter key is not working.i had already transferred all my data to ubuntu so doing a clean install is out of option unless somehow i am able to get the data to safety.
Following is the only way i can think of:

  • First get a root shell in ubuntu repair option in bootloader.
  • Then mount my windows partition and transfer all my data to it
  • Then do a clean install again.

The problem is that i have alot of data and transfering it would take alot of time and since i have hdd it would be even slower.second my other partitions don't have much space so i can't transfer all my data.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
