Ubuntu 18.04 LTS fake display with monitor attached

br flag

I have a Linux and Windows computer which are both connected to a KVM switch so that they share one monitor, mouse, and keyboard. The monitor is plugged into an Nvidia graphics card. If I log into the Linux computer when the KVM switch is set to display the Windows computer, the display does not refresh correctly. I need to be able to view the Linux GUI both remotely and with the local monitor, so running headless is not an option. Following someone's instructions here, I tried installing a dummy driver via

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-dummy

and creating a blank xorg.conf file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf but this only let me log in via Teamviewer; the monitor and mouse were frozen on the login screen. Is there a way to have the Linux display refresh if I remotely log into the Linux machine when the monitor is displaying the Windows computer?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
