So I booted up my Ubuntu 21.04 machine after not using it for a long time. Right off the bat, I noticed it was weird how only one of my two monitors hooked up was working, and how I could switch monitors by disconnecting the other; the ability to use both simultaneously suddenly stopped working, and I couldn't see the other inside of the display settings. I also noticed that I couldn't change the refresh rate (both are 144hz). The setting was gone.
So I figured I would upgrade (?) NVIDIA drivers to see if that would fix things. Note that I was able to get the new driver because I had WiFi connectivity. I went from nvidia-driver-470-server (proprietary) to nvidia-driver-470 (proprietary, tested). I figured a bigger number meant it was newer and better.
I rebooted and I was left with the same display issue, and no way to connect to the internet. In the network settings, the only thing I see is setting up a VPN. I've tried enabling various network interfaces with ifconfig, and all I get are errors about it not being able to find said device. I'm at a loss.
I'm fairly new to Linux in general. So I'm not sure if it's an easy or obvious fix, but any help is appreciated. Thanks.
