Audio not working (Only Dummy available)

cn flag

I just installed xubuntu on a Sony Vaio VPCEB1J8E. It originally came with windows 10 and audio worked ocassionally only. I had to reboot it several times in order for it to work. All this under windows 10.

Then, I installed xubuntu. In the audio settings, it only appears "Dummy Output". Here's the output of command inxi -SMA:

System: Host: main Kernel: 5.11.0-34-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2 Distro: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (Focal Fossa)
Machine: Type: Laptop System: Sony product: VPCEB1J8E v: C6053YLL serial: <superuser/root required>
Mobo: Sony model: VAIO serial: <superuser/root required> BIOS: American Megatrends v: R0270Y8 date: 05/05/2010
Audio: Device-1: Intel 5 Series/3400 Series High Definition Audio driver: snd_hda_intel
           Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-34-generic

Thanks in advance for your help. If more info needed, let me know.

If you were having intermittent issues in Windows that point to either a firmware (UEFI) or hardware problems. First of all update the former because the latter can only be solved by an authorized service center.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
