AMD 5700G on Gigabyte x570S Aero G motherboard

za flag

The Gigabyte 'X570s Aero G' has 2 onboard video outputs: 1x HDMI and 1x USB Type-C when a "G"-type CPU like the 5700G is installed.

The BIOS is now updated to version=F3d (but I still had no luck).

I'm running Ubuntu 21.10 on Kernel 5.15.10 (2021-12-20)

The installed CPU = 5700G
The detected graphics model = Cezanne and the installed driver = amdgpu

Only the monitor connected to the HDMI port is detected. I tried to connect the 2nd monitor via:

  • USB-Type-C to Display port (triple Display, USB C to Dual 4K HDMI Adapter, with Display Port)- NO detection
  • Using a USB C Hub

I tried:

  • 1 Monitor to the Hubs ¨Display Port¨ and the second to ¨HDMI¨ NO monitor is detected

  • both Monitors to HDMI - No monitor is detected

Is the amdgpu driver capable of detecting and driving 2 monitors, or what must I do to get the 2 monitors to run?

I contacted Gigabyte support. Their answer was:

X570S AERO G support Windows 10 64-bit. AMD didn't release a 5700G driver for Linux.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
