Missing splash screen & flashing login when using NVIDIA GPU

ps flag

I just installed Ubuntu on a secondary PC, it's been mostly fine but there's still a couple issues I'd like to get sorted out. I have an integrated Intel GPU and a GTX 1660ti DGPU. When I use Intel, I get the proper splash screen during both startup and shutdown, and the machine logs in smoothly. But as soon as I enable the NVIDIA GPU, the shutdown screen stops showing and it takes a few seconds longer to log in, because the screen turns off briefly before the desktop loads. Anyone here know of a fix? Try to explain in simple terms, I'm still sort of a Linux noob!

Oh and also, for some reason the power profiles in settings (performance, balanced and power saver) don't save on reboot. I have to change every time I turn on my PC.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
