How can I make KRDC show a pointer instead of a tiny circle for the remote host's pointer?

in flag

I'm using KRDC 17.12.3 to operate a Mac at the far end of my table, and it works fine except that on the Linux screen the host's pointer shows up as a tiny circle - very hard to see.

The 'show local pointer' option allows me to turn the circle off, but then I have no visible pointer at all at the Linux end!

Is there a way I can force that little circle to be a normal arrow or something else that's visible?

I tried TigerVNC, TightVNC, RealVNC, and Viagre, but the first three claim no matching security protocols for the Mac, and Viagre limits the password to 8 characters so it doesn't even get that far(!)

I also tried turning on 'show mouse when you press alt+ctrl' in the KDE settings but it doesn't work.

xeyes is entertaining as a last resort, but hardly ideal.

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTE with KDE.

Thanks

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
