i got a HP Probook 5650 that I am desperately trying to install Ubuntu on with a USB. No matter what I do it, it still boots into the windows OS installed (which I don't have access to).
I've been in the boot options and change the order/priority of boot devices, so that USB hard drive, USB floppy and USB CD/DVD are on top. I made sure the option for booting from USB is active/ticked in the bios settings. Furthermore, I restored bios and security settings.
The USB should work, since I used it to install Ubuntu on another machine. I don't have much knowledge about UEFI/Legacy, but in the bios options, it says that UEFI is only for development, so I followed a guide for making a bootable USB with legacy install.
When opening the boot device options (F9) I am presented with 3 choices:
- Notebook upgrade bay
- Notebook hard drive
- Notebook ethernet.
i tried to let it boot to the login screen and restart while holding down Shift, in the hope of there being a boot option but no.
I also tried to boot from ethernet with AIO boot, but i couldnt get that to work either. There are no settings for secure boot in the bios options. I also tried another USB port, but with no luck. Any tips?
