Theming gtk3 dialogs

in flag

I am playing with theming Ubuntu 20.04 and 21.10 and have not been able to discover how (or if it is possible) to change the background colors for specific dialogs and their buttons generated by gtk3 applications without changing how the apps themselves are themed. I hope this is possible by making some additions to the css files for my theme.

More specifically, some examples: the Delete dialog generated by Nautilus when the option to Delete permanently is chosen, the Run or show dialog generated by Nautilus when an executable text file is chosen, the Close dialogs generated by gedit and Meld when a window containing a changed file is selected to be closed.

I don't wish to change the original source codes and recompile the apps, just theme these dialogs in a way consistent with the changes I have made to gnome-shell.css for dialogs like logout, power off and authentication.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
