Firefox Not Playing Videos After Today's Update

jp flag

Today Ubuntu did a major upgrade on my PC. Unfortunately it has removed "unnecessary" packages. I haven't paid attention to what was being removed, just thought "cool, get rid of unneccesary stuff. The system has rebooted and Firefox didn't play any videos anymore, except on YouTube.

I have reinstalled ubuntu-restricted-extras and made sure the Firefox settings allow the playback of DRM-controlled content, but it still wouldn't help. GStreamer seems to be installed, checked that in the Terminal. Before the upgrade everything has worked fine. I have even reinstalled Firefox and deleted all Firefox files on my system before. Firefox complains about missing Codecs by showing a pop-up bar.

I am on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS.

1) Snap or deb Firefox? 2) Is it only videos with DRM that are an issue?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
