The methods seen on this forum DO NOT WORK for me. They talk about create swap partitions that are no longer needed. BTW I have a solution which I will immediately answer but welcome others.

You are not asking a question but rather providing an answer for a question. Perhaps you can change this into a two part where in the first part you are asking the question regarding issues installing 20.04 on a raid1 and then separately provide the answer?

Welcome to Ask Ubuntu and thank you for submitting a contribution! We are a Question and Answer site so we do things a bit differently. Take a look at our [tour](https://askubuntu.com/tour). It's perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question. Actually, it's encouraged! However, it seems that there is only an answer here and it's not clear what the original problem was. You should compose a question to identify the problem that matches this solution. Then you can post the details of the solution as an answer.

@mariegriffiths Post your answer, the post is reopened. HOWEVER, keep in mind this IS a Q/A site, you post the question as a question, THEN add your answer later. This is the design of StackExchange and Ask Ubuntu, and there's no way around that part of the design.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
