Ubuntu 20.04 completely freezes after login

kr flag

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on a Surface Pro 7, with the surface kernel installed (I'm not an advanced user, I kind of know how to use the terminal but that's all).

After booting my laptop today, I didn't get any GUI, but like a bash, terminal asking for my login, and after looking for quite some time on the internet, I discovered that for whatever reason ubuntu-desktop was not installed (is this even the proper way of saying it?) and, after installing it with apt and rebooting, now I have the actual GUI, but after login, it doesn't work at all.

The mouse and keyboard don't respond at all (they do on the login screen), I can't open anything, not even change to a terminal, etc. After I graphically log in, the laptop simply stops responding.

I have a Surface, so it doesn't use NVIDIA, which means most answers I have encountered do not work. Any ideas about how can I, at least, troubleshoot this?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
