Having issues with dual screen setup; was working yesterday and stopped today

cn flag

I haven't quite found a thread with my exact issue so I will try to describe it the best i can.

Yesterday I got my dual monitor setup, running an HP 15t-dyt200 laptop with the following:
Processor: 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz × 8
Graphics: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics (TGL GT2)
OS: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS

Yesterday, the first time I tried, it worked perfectly. Plug and play. Powered everything down at the end of my session, then unplugged. Today I cannot get the display to switch to dual. The monitor is showing on my dual screen settings options, but when i click the "join displays" button, it reverts me back to "single display" after my second monitor "wakes up" but doesnt ever display anything.

Other notes: I am running a dual boot system. 50% of my hardrive is Ubuntu, and 50% is windows 11. The windows 11 side has no issues getting both monitors running.
I did run a command, with the hdmi plugged in sudo reboot now and the secondary display started working properly after it exited the desktop, and showed a long list of code that i didnt catch before it shut down. Once rebooted, the same issue occured.
I booted into the windows side, to see if I could get it to work over there and it did. I also had a windows update which I did. After the Windows update, I was able to get my second monitor working no problem on the Windows side of my OS. When switching back to Ubuntu, it was causing the same issue as previously.

Here is the data when I run xrandr with the hdmi plugged in;

If there is any additional info you need, please don't hesitate to ask. I would love to get my 2 screens going for learning how to debug in the coming days, since i already have them. It is an Acer monitor if that makes any difference. I also have checked for any Ubuntu updates, and reinstalled, and that did not fix the issue. Any other suggestions?

Quick edit: When I attempt to switch to dual screen mode, then the screen goes black and the other one "wakes up" when the main screen comes back, i will be missing my mouse pointer about 50% of the time. It works, but is invisible.

Final Edit:A few hours after giving up on this issue, and then coming back and trying again finds that it is now working just fine. I am wondering if a full shutdown and wait 5 minutes would have solved this issue to begin with.

Rebooting between OSes is generally not effective anymore, as Windows will leave hardware in an intermediary state allowing for a 0.0003-second faster boot time. The problem with this is that other OSes cannot always reset the intermediary state, so do not have full access to the hardware. Going forward, it would be better to shut down, count to 1, then hit the power button.

I actually did a full shutdown and waited about 2 minutes(maybe a little less), before even attempting the Windows portion. Same process when i was shutting down the Windows and rebooting Linux side. It is working without a hiccup again today, and every time I have had the wire plugged in and secure before booting up, which really is best practice if i know i am going to use it anyways. Thank you for re-enforcing the idea that this was some communication error between the hardware.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
