Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS Bionic Beaver Graphics issue

sl flag

I am using a Lenovo Yoga 6 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U and Radeon Graphics. The kernel I have is 5.4.0-84-generic.

I have 2 issues:

  1. I can't change my screen brightness. I have already tried changing the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" line in /etc/default/grub to include acpi_backlight=vendor (all this did was cause my increase brightness key to also control my microphone). I have also tried changing the brightness value in /sys/class/backlight/acip_video0, but that did nothing. I have also installed brightness-controller, and that did nothing either. xrandr --output default --brightness <number> gives me an error where gamma is of size 0. What can I do?
  2. I want to run the Carla simulator (I'm using version 0.9.9.4), and when I try to run ./CarlaUE4.sh, it gives me an error saying it is unable to create an OpenGL context. I have to update my graphics drivers, but I'm not sure how to do this, and where I can find this online. I tried looking on the AMD website, but they don't have the Linux drivers for the correct version of Ubuntu (I already tried installing a driver for 18.04.4 and it broke Ubuntu; I've also looked at the specific page for my processor, but they only had drivers for Windows 10/11). I get a feeling this is linked with my problem with brightness control. Also, running lspci | grep VGA gives 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Device 164c (rev c1)

Note: I am new to Linux, so please let me know what other information I should provide to help me solve this issue (and thanks for the help)

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
