Sound or streaming issue while on console

ec flag

If I have music playing in Ubuntu Mate 22.04 (same issue in 18.04), it stops playing several seconds after moving to tty1-6. This happens with any music streaming on a browser (youtube, pandora, etc) but not with music playing from the hard drive like via mpv. Seems to play out its buffer and then halt. My guess is the browser is decided to be out of use and so streaming is deprioritized. Is there a way to force it to keep playing?

This happens with both Google Chrome and Firefox. Firefox takes til the end of the song and has a notice about a bad network connection when I come back, making me think that the OS is choking down network access for anything streaming while I am in tty1-6. The same problem does not occur when focused on other windows or in other workspaces within the GUI.

This did not happen when I first installed 18.04, it must have started with one of the updates. It happens out of the box on 22.04. The same problem exists on several physical systems with different hardware.

I would greatly appreciate any solution, I would guess something that forces the OS to not deprioritize streaming when the user is not in the GUI.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
