Certain keys of my Thinkpad T460 stopped working after updating

in flag

The keys (5,6,-,+,Ctrl,F1,F2..) stopped working after installing a few updates. I came across this solution which asked me to run the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration. After running this without altering anything, those keys started working magically for a few minutes and then again stopped working. These keys are not detected while running the xev command.

I then tried to run this command: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-all but it didn't fix the problem. I have tried various other solutions but none of them are working. I guess this problem is not related to hardware as many of them have faced the problem with the same set of keys from what I've seen while browsing. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to AskUbuntu. If the `xev` doesn't recognize these buttons/keys, there are no keys match on the system or these are not connected physically. Check the keyboard connectors inside the laptop (if you are electrician) or plug the USB keyboard with the same layout and check these keys work.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
