Cannot log into primary user Ubuntu 22.10

iq flag

I recently installed 22.10 on my Acer Predator laptop and have had no problems until two days ago. I was playing the new Dwarf Fortress through Steam, the screen went black except for the top bar and applications buttons.

I rebooted after attempting some troubleshooting but now when I input my password the screen goes blank and my cursor blinks a few times before either sending me back to the login or the "something went wrong please log out" screen depending if I use the default or Wayland mode.

I have gone through troubleshooting .Xauthority, /tmp directory, deleted and clean installed the environment as well as switching between lightdm and gdm3 and am still getting the same results. Interestingly when I created a new user through TTY I had no problem logging into the new account.

The computer uses a nvidia graphics card and an intel core i7 processor if that is relevant. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
