How do I get audio back after upgrade to 22.10?

I see other posts with this same question but their answers did not help me. I understand that pulseaudio is no longer being used and was replaced with pipewire. First, I am not sure where the pipewire sound manager app is so do I continue to use the pulseaudio app?

For my specific problem, I did temporarily install a pipewire app for testing but removed it again as it was reported by Ubuntu as a possible security risk. While trying it, it shows that the audio is working but no sound is coming out though the HDMI connection. The monitor's sound is NOT muted.

I am running Ubuntu Studio 22.10 with the Xfce desktop (due to problems with the default Gnome desktop).

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
