How to create a custom "touchscreen-like" mouse pointer theme in ubuntu 20.04

dm flag

I have a system where I'm using a touchscreen as the USB mouse input for a desktop Ubuntu 20.04 system. I am using a driver (eGTouch) so that the touch screen is simply interpreted as a mouse, but instead of the standard mouse pointer I'd like to use a theme that shows a grey circle where I tap which fades after the tap action.

Searching "Change mouse pointer in ubuntu" and "Custom cursor theme in ubuntu" all point to how to use Gnome Tweaks to change the theme to an option packaged with ubuntu, but:

I would like a way to

  1. Change the image to a grey (75% opacity) circle
  2. Make it so it disappears after about a second after a touch.

Since the system is primarily configured via remote support, bash options would be strongly preferred but not necessary.

Thanks!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
