I've just upgraded my ubuntu system via the installer that popped up suggesting an upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04
The upgrade seemed to go fairly smoothly and after reboot, it loaded the new version. Wifi is connected and on the login screen mouse and keyboard.
The desktop screen appears to be fine, I just can't interact with it.
However after login, the desktop loads normally, but I cannot access anything because neither the mouse nor the keyboard will work. I can see the wired keyboard is 'on' because the capslock light will come on when I press it.
But the only thing I can do now is press the hard shutdown button
My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad x230. The problem effects both the in built keyboard and touchpad as well as external ones connected via usb (which all work on the login screen)
The on screen keyboard works during the login screen but will not appear after the login. Slow keys is not selected on the accessibility options.
Any suggestions? I didn't realise the upgrade was going to be this risk.
Edit. Have managed to get thinks working by logging in via the 'xorg' option. Not sure what exactly this means though as I'm not an Ubuntu expert by any means!
