Dell firmware updates cause other updates to not install correctly on Kubuntu 22.04

lv flag

I recently installed Kubuntu 22.04 in a dual-boot system with Windows - my computer did not ship with Linux. I ran an update through the KDE app Discover that updated the Dell BIOS. This update appeared to be successful. I then booted into Kubuntu and saw that Discover was telling me to restart to install other updates I had downloaded. I rebooted, but the message was still there. It appears that the updates are not actually installing when I restart. I am running a Dell XPS 17 9700. I have UEFI Secure Boot enabled. I have shut down the computer and booted into Kubuntu again, but this did not solve the issue. I ran fwupdmgr update and got:

Devices with no available firmware updates:  • DELL098F:00 04F3:311C  • Integrated Webcam HD Devices with the latest available firmware version:  • UEFI dbx

...which suggests that a bad EFI binary is not at fault, as a person suggested to me. Thanks for any help in advance.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
