Split one physical monitor into two screens (i3wm on X)

gb flag

I have my i3 config and tooling set up to make good use of two separate screens, my laptop and an external screen. To be able to simply reuse this setup on my desktop PC where I just have a single large screen I'd like to split this screen so that X/i3 sees it as two separate displays.

In case it makes a difference: The screen is connected via HDMI to an Nvidia RTX 2600.

Is this possible?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
