I'm having trouble getting an external monitor to extend screens. Where am I going wrong?

I'm running 22.04, new install in dual boot with Win11. The machine is a new (~7 months old) Alienware m17 R5 with AMD Ryzen 7 6800H and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

I ran apt update and apt upgrade, as well as attempting to update display drivers (including downloading the drivers directly from the hardware manufacturer). In no combination of drivers and settings has the second display worked while plugged into HDMI on the machine. The display does function, but only in mirroring when plugged into the HDMI on my USB-C hub, it will not extend or operate with only the external monitor.

Could you try enabling a lower resolution on the HDMI output? I have somewhat similar issue with an old Intel PC: [bug report]/https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed-hwe-5.15/+bug/2009672)

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
