HDMI connection percieved as DisplayPort

ru flag

I'm using MacbookPro16,1 with AMD Radeon 5500 on kubuntu and amdgpu driver that comes with kubuntu-23.04-6.4.7-t2-lunar from this github repo

dpkg -l xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu shows following

||/ Name                      Version      Architecture Description
+++-=========================-============-============-=======================================
ii  xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu 23.0.0-1     amd64        X.Org X server -- AMDGPU display driver

I'm trying to connect to an external display's HDMI port with a HDMI to HDMI cable and a HDMI to USB-C converter connected to one of my built-in USB-C port. The external display shows up in system setting of KDE connected, but the external display shows "no signal" message on screen.

After trying out nearly all methods on the internet with no change, I noticed that in my xrandr -q output:

Instead of HDMI, it is shown as a DisplayPort device. I guess they are different in term of connection protocol? Could that be the reason why the external display have no signal? Is there a way to overide this to tell the GPU to connect it to a HDMI port instead?

Thank you very much

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
